It was brought to Guwahati loco shed in 1994 and restored in Feb 2001. The first trial run was conducted on the 20th of Feb 2001 and after successful trials was put on a tourist special run from Guwahati to Pandu. NFR plans to have similar runs through the year. 1944 built MAWD class no.1798 stands outside New Guwahati shed prior to its first trail run. The loco with rake at Guwahati station before commencing its first tourist special run to Pandu. The loco sporting a different livery enroute to Pandu.
